I had a bunch of scrap plywood laying around from other projects so I decided to do something small and simple that my kids could help with. One of the things I knew would be useful to them is some kind of organizer for their pencils and crayons. So we decided to build a small DIY Pencil Box so that their crayons would not be all over the table and floor.
I cut all of the pieces using a table saw and had my kids put it together. Also, I recorded a video of them working.

Cut List
Step 1 – First Assemble the Smaller Box
Cut all pieces to dimensions provided in the cut list using a skill saw and/or table saw. Take the pieces for the small box and attach them together using 1″ finish nails.
Step 2 – Then Build a Bigger Box
Take the sideboards and arrange them in a box. Place the top board over the sideboards and nail it with finish nails.
Step 3 – Nail the Side Boards
Now nail the sides together with two nails at each corner.
Step 4 – Place and Attach Small Box Inside the Large Box
Place the small box in one corner. Slide the last piece in and nail it from the side and bottom. You’re all done with this DIY Pencil Box for Kids.
